My new work space

First I would like to apologize for the lack of posts recently but I have been spending my time creating my new work space with my mum.

A while ago now my mum made the suggestion to change our garage into a work space for me but we have both been really busy until last week when we decided to do it, so here it is ...

A trip to London

A few weeks ago I went on a trip to London with college.  While we were here we went to the new designers exhibition and then visited Soho to look around the fabric shops and collect samples.

The new designers exhibition was showing the best from different universities all around the country and being able to see all of this work in one place really put into perspective the individuality of each student and piece of work that is created.

When we had finished at the exhibition we went to Soho and started to collect samples from the fabric shops, I found this experience really useful and it has made me more likely to visit again .

Have you visited the fabric shops in Soho?

A few editing ideas

After looking through the pictures that Mike Sutton took of my dress I decided that I was going to try and create some different images by creating a collage effect with the images on photoshop.

Here is some different results.

Some of them have worked better than others.  What do you think?

The Whitworth Art Gallery

I have been meaning to tell you about this for a while now, a few weeks ago me and about 9 others from college visited Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester.  While we were there we did a couple of workshops one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  The one in the morning was more out of my comfort zone as it was to do with drawing and this is not my strongest area but i was optimistic and hoped to find a new method that worked for me.

The first task was to draw what we were thinking, feeling or had seen that day without taking the pencil of the paper.
Then we went around the gallery looking at the artwork on the wall and quickly just drawing what stood out to us.
Then I did a drawing showing the idea of a journey which was the theme of these workshops and a piece of art that I saw.  The knots show difficulties that we all come across in our own journeys.
For the afternoon workshop we looked at creating a person and garments then we created them using materials that we were given on the floor.  Here is mine.

The edited 4

Here are the 4 pictures that Mike Sutton edited for me, I am so pleased with the results and think that the combination of all four of us (Photographer, Designer, Model and Stylist) working together has really helped and enabled us to create these amazing results.

You should visit Mike Sutton at http://jukeboxboombox.co.uk/.  His work is well worth taking a look at.

Final 20

Well as I mentioned in a previous post last week I had a photoshoot; with Mike Sutton who's work can be found at http://jukeboxboombox.co.uk/;so I could get pictures for my portfolio.  These are the 20 best from the shoot.
