Starting the New Brief

Before I broke up for Christmas we launched the new brief as we were asked to start researching and produce our first 4 single pages over the holidays.

The brief is about designing our final collection so it is the research and design side of this industry.

I decided upon the theme Butterflies to start with, this is because I find the colours and patterns that they have beautiful and feel that this is a good starting point for a collection.

Here are the first 4 species that I have looked at:

Camberwell Beauty
 Marbled White
 Monarch
 Swallowtail

After looking in some more species I hope to look into other more in depth ares of this creature such as the anatomy and the movement.

What do you think about this theme?

Concept Board

So here is my final board of the A2 portfolio that we had to create for the current brief.  It is my concept board which shows the inspiration behind my boards and the customer that I am aiming it at.  I have also included elements that I have used in my boards so that they link together such as the eyes from one board in my first pair, the bow that I used in my second pair and the lines that I used in my second pair.

I believe that this board represents my concept quite well and I feel that I have considered the layout as well which you can tell if you look at some of my boars from previous briefs.

What do you think?

New Year, New Brief

Well today I started my second year at college and with it came a brand new set of briefs and a brand new fashion show to aim for.

We started our first brief of the year which is about Design Principles in Art and Design.  I read this brief and realized that I didn't really know a lot about the areas that we will be covering and knew that I would have to understand what is meant before I could actually start to approach it.

By the end of the college day, after research and discussions, I understand what the brief means and feel that I can start to progress.

How has your day been?
